黑料不打烊 Announces Junior Policy Updates for 2026-2027 Season

Over the past several months, 黑料不打烊 has undertaken a comprehensive review of the junior competition and ranking structure in preparation for the 2026鈥2027 season. This process included analysis of participation and performance data from the 2025鈥2026 season, ongoing evaluation of tournament trends and extensive engagement with stakeholders across the community.

A key part of this process was the Junior Squash Town Hall held on April 7, which brought together players, parents, coaches and program leaders to provide feedback and perspectives on a range of proposed adjustments. The discussion was thoughtful, constructive and extremely valuable in helping shape the final recommendations. Watch a full replay of the聽.

Following that feedback, several proposals were refined, some were maintained as originally presented and others were not advanced. Throughout the process, the objective has been to ensure that the junior ranking system continues to evolve in a way that supports:

  • Competitive integrity
  • Athlete development
  • Player well-being
  • Accessibility and opportunity
  • Long-term sustainability of the pathway

It is important to note that these adjustments relate specifically to the junior ranking and tournament structure and do not encompass all aspects of junior squash participation, such as scholastic leagues and other non-ranking pathways.

The key adjustments for the 2026鈥2027 season include:

  • Maintaining current U19 Gold draw sizes
  • Requiring certified Athletic Trainers at all Gold tournaments
  • Retaining the current playing-up criteria
  • Sharing finishing positions in consolation and plate draws (except U11)
  • Moving U11 JCT divisions to a two-day competition format
  • Introducing a season-opening Super JCT
  • Rebranding end-of-season championships as Nationals and Divisionals with a unified registration process
  • Implementing a citizenship requirement for End-of-Season Nationals
  • Increasing ranking points and extending scheduling at the U.S. Junior Open
  • Introducing PSA Challenger events to strengthen the elite development pathway

We recognize that junior squash serves a wide range of athletes and families with differing goals and experiences. Not every decision will affect every player in the same way, but we believe these adjustments represent a balanced approach that supports both the current needs and future growth of the junior game.

A detailed document outlining each recommendation, decision and rationale is available here for those who would like additional information. Thank you to everyone who contributed feedback and engaged in the process. The continued input and commitment of the community remain essential as we work to strengthen and evolve junior squash in the United States.
